Arriving on the coast
Not much to report since the last entry. It is currently 4:30 in the morning, and we are catching a ferry at 7:30 to Port Hardy on Vancouver Island. For some reason they want us to check in 2 hours before departure. I’m really not sure why, since we don’t have a car, it’s just us. But the ticket clearly says that if we haven’t checked in 90 minutes before departure they will cancel and re-sell our tickets. So another early morning for us.
All of yesterday was spent on the train (The Skeena) from Prince George to where we are now, Prince Rupert. The train left at 8am and got here around 8:40pm. Not much of a wildlife spotting day until the very end. Saw 2 bears (1 I found on my own!) and a moose. Then right when we were pulling into the station there would have been at least 30 or so eagles. Some flying overhead (we could see because the roof of our carriage was glass), some right at the top of trees and some on buildings in the port! No photos yeterday either, the wildlife are too far away, and the sun reflects off the windows of the train to get any decent photos of scenery. However, there were hundreds of waterfalls caused by the snow melting. That did look fantastic!
